Excellent point regarding the model solos. The ones I used to write were tough to play fast for the very reason I just described. Nowadays I will purposely compose a model with tempo and ease of execution in mind. That eventually causes you to find the optimum way to spontaneously handle solo passages, no matter what the tempo.
