From the looks of things Perry is going to win (The Shark). But keep in mind Perry Ormsby does it for a living, has won many times and makes some really great (and expensive) guitars.

I think you're doing great Dean, I can already see your learning curve is shrinking and with most people the more you do, the better it gets! Also, I'm sure you're feeling the 'guitar love' as you go. Sanding back a surface that feels nice and you feel the reward of the work inside.

If you have the nerve, you can post the G.O. build progress pictures in the 'In Progress and Finished Work' section as you go, explaining and asking questions. You'll be suprised how many will give you honest feedback in process and will end up voting for it when it's done...I've seen it happen. Wink

That place taught me a lot. A couple of members from there are members here. You will run into a fair amount of young noob type guys but most veterans are still around and appreciate people trying to be creative.

I've been holding off on building for the most part because of life and time but have a couple designs I will do eventually that will be my dream/desire guitars. So you get the thrill now for the both of us...okay? Razz

It is also good therapy.....and I love using my hands w/ the wood.Like I said this one is for a young person ...who just got straight A's on the old report card, and regards me as a friend not just the old guy that I am.I will do it for us both. Laughing Hey , what did you thank about the back so far?

I like the mix. The spaulted is a pain to work with sometimes because it freys and chips so easily, but I think it's cool!

I was concerned about the spaulted too, but I wanted to use it with the G.because it blended in with the G design so well. After cutting the body shape out the wood looks tight all the way thru.I'll just cross my fingers Smile Working on the front now, will put the halfs together today.

Got hit on the sound hole on my first build ...it was one of my whoops I did not intend to run it into the other wood ,but it was the only way to save it. Laughing The feed back has been really cool and dead on.

Well I just finished my first guitar build

That is pretty nice job for the first build, Dean. I won't lie to you - I am
not crazy about styling but it takes a while to develop new and original
design. I have seen evolution of guitars made by a friend who is a pro
luthier and it took him few years to develop somewhat consistent style.
