Has anyone spent time listening or transcibing Russell Malone ?
If I were to emulate any one guitar player it would Russell. He can really swing some blues...

Well yeah man, that is what this is all about. What is your favorite head that he has written. Russell is a great player. Let us know what you have gleaned from him. I am always looking for great blues ideas.

Tony,

I agree with you (and Dave) about Russell being a great player, and as I mentioned to you recently, he's a great friend of jazz guitarist Henry Johnson. I downloaded "A Dukeish Blues" from YouTube tonight, and if I get some Malone licks transcribed, I'll share them with you guys.

Speaking of sharing and favorite swing blues heads, last year I recorded "Birk's Works" by Dizzy Gillespie. Guitar doubles with trumpet on the head, and I plan to score my solo on this minor classic for future release in the MGS series. Hope you enjoy it!
