I'm 5 lessons into Mark's bass course. I found out by accident the other day that singing the head while playing the bass line helps to lock in the timing of the walk. Has anyone else tried this?

Larry,

I'll have to try that. I thought I was doing OK just singing the bass line! Wink

I have found that recording myself playing bass along with a rhythm track is a good way to work on locking in. It's helpful to listen back at a slow speed. If I hear a "flam" (space between between the click or drum beat and the bass note), the note is not centered on the beat.

Surprisingly, this is an interesting experiment. I've also found it to be a helpful exercise for consciously locking in, dragging, rushing, etc. When I'm completely locked in, the bass and click sound as one (like my left and right hands on the piano).

Has anyone else tried this method?
