I hope you've enjoyed this "Solo Guitar Arranging" lesson. To wrap things up, I'd like to offer some valuable tips and resource links:

Tip #1 - Arrange Each and Every Day!

Arranging for solo guitar is one of the greatest things that you can do on a daily basis, because it involves all of your senses (i.e. ear, mind, technique, vision, etc), plus it's fun, inspiring, and you have something "musical" to show for your hard work. For more on the subject, read the following "Coach's Corner" article:

Tip #2 - Document Your Arranging Efforts.

Get accustomed to writing (and recording) your ideas for easy recall and analysis. Start off with simple guitar chord diagrams or tablature, eventually working your way up to standard notation. Here's some handy blank charts:

Tip #3 - Learn by Observing the Works of Others.

I'm a firm believer in the phrase "innovation through imitation!" This is how I've acquired most of what I consider valuable throughout my career. Listen to as many guitarists skilled in the art of solo guitar arranging as you can, and try to transcribe and analyze what they're doing. Be open to other approaches via teachers, books, etc.
