Hot Site Additions

The "Classical Gas" page has a new feature. "Spanish Romance" is one of the most endearing, soulful compositions of all time. This fingerstyle lesson features multiple study and playback options, just like all of the other editions there. Don't miss it.

You'll find yet another new mp3 conversion at our "Audio Lessons" page. "More Latin Vamps" is the sequel to last month's "Latin Guitar Vamps" release, this time focusing on three great vamp progressions in the key of E minor. Have fun!

We have a brand new, exciting addition to our "Bottomline Bass" page. Now bassists and guitarists can practice the actual bass lines to selections from the popular Jam Central Station page, with the interactive "JCS Bass Line" series. You'll find two lesson editions in this maiden voyage release, "Black Magic Woman" (Carlos Santana) and "Moondance" (Van Morrison).

Learn the parts in standard notation and tab, using multiple study and playback options, then get on stage and jam. Cool, eh?

The "Coach's Corner" page has just been updated with two more additions. The original 24 articles are still available for all site fans. Members have access to twice the number of articles, plus all of the upcoming editions. Ready to site-read? Click here!

More Jam Tracks

We are continually updating the popular Jam Central Station page, still the #1 jam session on the web, featuring high-quality rhythm charts. This is part of our plan to double the existing selections and broaden the spectrum of tunes to include classic ballads, latin, and swing standards. You'll find four new selections just added, from blues to rock to jazz to latin. Enjoy!

Don't miss our new "JCS Preview" page, to see dozens of upcoming jam tracks scheduled for release. To access, click here. You can also learn about becoming a Vision Music website member, to gain access to all existing tracks and all the new additions.

"The band at Vision Music's Jam Central Station offers a superb resource to quickly sharpen your jazz improv skills, as you can play your lines with a great rhythm section any time of the day. I wish there was a resource available like this in the early 60's when I was learning how to play jazz!"

Question Mark...

How About Playing In All Keys?

Much has been made of the necessity, especially in jazz music, to be able to play a song in as many keys as possible. I disagree with that philosophy. Theoretically it sounds impressive and like a good idea, but reality dictates otherwise. Simply put, the majority of the musicians you will meet in your lifetime play standards in the key associated with that composition. There are exceptions, especially when accompanying vocalists, but I'd much rather spend my time learning a dozen great tunes, as opposed to learning one song in a dozen keys. Unless you have no choice, work with the concert key.
