I did "competitive upgrade" from Amplitube that Native Instruments
offered this summer. They would not send it to me for weeks after
they charged the card and when I complained they gave me newest
version - GuitarRig3 - for free (lesson learned - always whine!)
I have E-MU 1616 audio interface. The input impedance is 1MOhm so
it should be able to handle magnetic pickup plugged directly into it.
And with Amplitube it mostly worked OK - except latency was about
7ms (at best) - which is borderline acceptable. I did not like Amplitube
UI all that much - it would not work with PowerTracks so I decided
to go for GuitarRig.
Well... I keep trying and trying and the clean tone it produces is just
not there. On a whim I ran output from preamp on my Polytone to 1616,
added EQ, reverb and cab sim using E-MU DSP and that was it! decent
jazz tone w/o even having to tweak the amp much. It was way better
than any clean tone GuitarRig ever gave me. Quite sobering.
So question is - maybe 1616 and standalone GR3 is just not the way to
go - maybe using it as a plugin in sequencer? Any GuitarRig SUCCESS
stories out there?
