Hi! Even though our new forum is just getting off the ground, I want to take a moment to formally announce the presence of a dear friend and a man I consider one of the greatest jazz guitarists of our time, Henry Johnson. He has already contributed a pair of brilliant posts sharing a level of knowledge that is simply unparalled, and we are grateful and privileged to have HJ with us.
Speaking of privileged, as you can see from the snapshot above, I had the opportunity to interview Henry for the current (Feb '07) issue of Just Jazz Guitar Magazine. The text that you see is just the prelude to our conversation, but I plan to ask Ed Benson (JJG Publisher) permission to share the entire story with all of you in the near future.
Don't be shy or intimidated in communicating with Henry, as he has a passion for sharing that truly separates him from so many well-known artists in the field. Btw, published in the same issue is my "Deja Blous" original tribute to HJ, composed both to celebrate our friendship and to personally thank him for being so encouraging to yours truly. To hear it, click here. Enjoy!

Mark,
What a great introduction. It makes me want to subscribe to Just Jazz Guitar to read the interview.
These are the kinds of things that make you above the rest in our studies. I just wanted to say thanks for keeping all of your students in the jazz guitar loop. We are better for it.

That interview was so good I was sorry it didn't go on for another hundred pages. I'm waiting for Henry to write a book...... |
