How It Works...

For all instrumentalists regardless of skill level, each arrangement in the GVJS series comes in its own eBook, in standard notation (with tab for guitarists). The solo chorus matches the chord changes on tracks from our highly-popular Jam Central Station page.

Note: The MP3 audio format features vibes over piano trio, ideal for jazz guitarists in the Hank Garland/Gary Burton tradition and perfect for playalong practice until you can play the solo, either in its entirety or by mastering any of the numerous licks courtesy of the great artists mentioned above.

Here, try out a few bars for yourself (click music for audio):

Note to Guitarists...

Weak sight-reader? Even if you're a guitar player who can't read music to save your life, your vibes' partner will lead you every step of the way until your phrasing is perfect!

To hear an example of how you'll sound playing along with a hot jazz solo, click here.

Bottom line? Talk is cheap, but music books, CDs, videos, and private lessons can be VERY expensive. If you're really serious about improvisation, why waste time when you can be learning real-world solos packed with core jazz language gleaned from the best players in history, for less than half the price of one private lesson?

Confused About Jazz?

Welcome to the club! One of the main purposes in creating the GVJS series was to provide an "oasis" for aspiring jazz players who are serious but often frustrated by their lack of success. This is typically due to the unnecessary over-mentalization of the genre.

Use it as a "road map" to analyze the GVJS solos, your transcriptions, or other solos. Need more? Please enjoy the following mp3 narratives on critical issues for jazz improvisers:
