"Joe Giglio"

Vision Music presents, for your learning pleasure...

Some of the Things

by Joe Giglio

Meet Joe Giglio...

A fine jazz guitarist, vocalist, and teacher based in New York, Joe Giglio brings his distinctive presence to the Vision Music faculty.

"Some of the Things" is a brilliant contribution from this talented artist, a lesson based on the classic "All the Things You Are" by Jerome Kern. Great riffs, walking bass lines, and more!

More from Mr. Giglio...

Joe has also included an excellent article for the fans! "On Improvisation" is both a personal introduction to all of you from Joe as well as a look at his own philosophy regarding jazz music and improvisation.

To top it off, the second half of the article is an analysis of his Teacher Feature contribution ("Some of the Things") described above. Don't miss it!

Artist Background...

Jazz guitarist/vocalist Joe Giglio has led his own trio for many years performing in jazz clubs, concerts and on radio/television. His first CD "Inside Out" has just been released on Zinnia Records.

A prolific composer, Joe has written many jazz compositions, pop and R&B songs. He has appeared with jazz greats Houston Person, Jack Wilkins, Vic Juris, Carmen Leggio, Ralph Lalama, Joe Puma, Eddie Bert, Ted Brown, Frank Vignola, Harvie Swartz, Bill Crow, and with vocalists Bobby Rydell, Judy Niemack and Carla White, among others.

Giglio is a member of the Jazz Faculty at the Music Conservatory of Westchester, Mercy College and Concordia College, and recently completed an MFA in Jazz Performance at Purchase College. He has studied with jazz legends Sal Mosca, Jack Wilkins, and Jimmy Heath, as well as classical guitar master David Tanenbaum. He is endorsed by Sam Ash Music, LaBella Strings, Alessandro Amplifiers and Raezer's Edge Speaker Cabinets.

We have our own Robert Conti to thank for inviting one of his East Coast buddies to join our "guest" faculty at Vision Music!

Robert Conti on Joe Giglio...

"It is a pleasure to welcome my East Coast Goombah, Joe Giglio, to the ever-growing faculty of Vision Music. As you will see and hear, the lesson in Joe's "Teacher Feature" captures the signature Giglio touch, and reflects his years of experience as a first class performer and educator! This lesson offers great insight into Joe's linear mechanics over a chordal structure that seems to intimidate some of the younger players. Study his choices of notes carefully!"

- Robert Conti

More Endorsements...

"Joe Giglio has emerged as a phenomenal player. His facility and creativity are amazing, and his writing is full of soul!" - David Tanenbaum

"..combines solid guitar chops with musical intelligence and a keen sense of adventure. His improvisation is always swinging and his vocals are fresh and engaging" - Jim Fisch (Senior Contributing Editor -- 20th Century Guitar).

"Giglio's clearly defined jazz guitar venue is a true testament to the artist's dedication. He plays from the heart and is among the most gifted players out there!" - Bob Benedetto

"What I wasn't aware of was Joe's vocal talent. His smooth Chet Baker inspired renditions of 'But Not For Me' and 'Time After Time' and the solo guitar features 'Embraceable You' and 'There will Never Be Another You' are welcomed contrasts which help to produce a well balanced program.

A strong debut release by one of tomorrow's stars" - Andy MacKenzie (Just Jazz Guitar).
